As a follow on to Leanne’s blog post below, I think that Ingrid & Jaco’s presentation really gave the parents and students at HeronBridge College some food for thought.

This video was shown at the beginning of the presentation and in 5 minutes certainly shared some mind-blowing statistics …where would we be without the ever changing face of technology? I don’t want to imagine! If you haven’t seen this before enjoy, if you have watch it again :)

Last night I had the pleasure of attending a talk held at HeronBridge College dealing with all the new online trends and how one can make a career out of this. Guest speakers Ingrid Rubin and Jaco Meiring did a combined presentation, highlighting what is happening within the “digital space” and what effect it is having in our day to day lives.

Virtuosa Acquires IceBlue

Full service digital agency Virtuosa announced today that an agreement to acquire IceBlue has been favorably concluded. Virtuosa and IceBlue have worked together closely over the past year with IceBlue bringing additional development capabilities to the joint projects. The buy-out was a natural progression when IceBlue MD Rex Green indicated his intention to sell to pursue other business interests.

How far "Web shops" have come

It brings a smile to my face when I see the progress that is being made by the Ad industry in understanding that digital companies can offer more than just building “good-looking” websites and that we are not sweat shops… I mean…. web shops, pumping out online clones of the TV ad that the ABL agency has produced…..

Adweek have just published their “Digital Agency Report cards“, they rate the agencies based on 4 criteria: the numbers, creative, emerging media and management.
Creative is obviously still a key criteria, within which strategy is mentioned but wouldnt it be great to see strategy as one of the main criteria with, performance to objective, one of the measurements for this criteria going forward. Measurement being one of the single greatest attributes of digital…. we can measure everything we do and show a return on investment, good or bad, in every instance.

In saying all of this, we are, cheerfully, positive that we will get there, and soon….
