			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last night I had the pleasure of attending a talk held at HeronBridge College dealing with all the new online trends and how one can make a career out of this. Guest speakers <a href="http://www.virtuosa.co.za/team/ingrid-rubin" target="_blank">Ingrid Rubin</a> and Jaco Meiring did a combined presentation, highlighting what is happening within the “digital space” and what effect it is having in our day to day lives.</p>
<p><span id="more-1036"></span>As a parent myself and a new comer to the digital world I was amazed that some parents still think this “Fad” that their teenagers are going through will fade away. With the stats that were revealed to us last night the digital world is growing at a fast and furious pace. It is not going anywhere and it is up to us as parents to empower ourselves with this knowledge. I also believe that schools in general should be working towards incorporating this as part of their education system.</p>
<p>This is the future of our children and generations to come. Is it not better to have the “know how” so we can also educate our children with the correct “etiquette” of social networking and how it could affect you in later years to come.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Full service digital agency Virtuosa announced today that an agreement to acquire IceBlue has been favorably concluded. Virtuosa and IceBlue have worked together closely over the past year with IceBlue bringing additional development capabilities to the joint projects. The buy-out was a natural progression when IceBlue MD Rex Green indicated his intention to sell to pursue other business interests.</p>
<p><span id="more-954"></span>“IceBlue have worked together side by side with Virtuosa for some time, so it was a natural move for us” MD Rex Green comments on the recent events.</p>
<p>The IceBlue team is a natural fit within the Virtuosa Group who already provides clients a full-service digital offering. The addition of the IceBlue’s team of developers enables Virtuosa to offer more specialized development and technological solutions to their clients.</p>
<p>The new Virtuosa team members will work within Virtuosa Design and Development Division headed by Bryce Hancock, Division GM and Creative Director, who is very excited about the changes ahead. “This has always been the vision of our company to constantly grow in the digital arena, by adding these developers’ specialized skills we compliment an already great creative team.”</p>
<p>Virtuosa and IceBlue clients can be assured that this recent development will not only further enhance our web development skills offering but also make us stronger in the digital environment.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It brings a smile to my face when I see the progress that is being made by the Ad industry in understanding that <a href="http://www.longtail.co.za/">digital companies </a>can offer more than just building &#8220;good-looking&#8221; websites and that we are not sweat shops&#8230; I mean&#8230;. web shops, pumping out online clones of the TV ad that the ABL agency has produced&#8230;..</p>
<p><a href="http://www.adweek.com/aw/content_display/news/digital/e3i61e5a1702fe16840d77572721098c0da">Adweek</a> have just published their &#8220;<a href="http://www.adweek.com/aw/content_display/special-reports/report-card/e3ie1a7ca1ab495f9f40496b6b57075df00">Digital Agency Report cards</a>&#8220;, they rate the agencies based on 4 criteria: the numbers, creative, emerging media and management.<br />Creative is obviously still a key criteria, within which strategy is mentioned but wouldnt it be great to see strategy as one of the main criteria with, performance to objective, one of the measurements for this criteria going forward. Measurement being one of the single greatest attributes of digital&#8230;. we can measure everything we do and show a return on investment, good or bad, in every instance.</p>
<p>In saying all of this, we are, cheerfully, positive that we will get there, and soon&#8230;.</p>
